Our debut album Excursions

Excursions was produced from early material we recorded individually, and later during our first 3 years together. We wanted to create one continuous conceptual flow of music, reflecting our up and down moments of ordinary madness, everyday struggle between our day jobs and our inner voices.

Maestro Paul Gilbert

GianLuca proud and happy student during one of the recent Paul Gilbert VIP lessons at the Atak in Enschede, NL.
Amazing experience with one of the greatest guitar virtuoso on the planet, soulful, generous and dedicated teacher.

Songwars 2010

Sun Travellers would like to thank Mike Pinder for having taken the time to review "Skywalker", during the Songwars contest:
"Creative approach. Nice 60's psychedelic styling. Try more drums and less cowbell in the mix. Use the drums to set the groove not the cowbell. Solid effort!"
We must have been thinking... we need more cowbell...

Pro-Demo

Demos of "Mirrors" and "A Thousand Stars" have been featured in the 2009 Pro-Demo podcasts, by British producer and engineer Tom Pearce.
Pro-Demo is an independent music promotion organization, founded by one of the most respected engineers of the '70s and '80s British rock scene.

SAE Guitar Recording Event

We have contributed to the Guitar Recording Event at SAE Amsterdam, 22 March 2009, hosting lectures and recording sessions during a busy open day at the school premises in Johan van Hasseltweg 31.
The event was a success, with the possibility to experience free studio sessions showing off guitar licks, and attend workshops with dedicated professionals (Digidesign, Line6, IK Multimedia, Studio Lobbes) showcasing the latest technology for studio and live sound practice.

The Syd Barrett Fund

In March 2009 we bought from The Syd Barrett Trust one of the five Telecasters kindly donated by Fender Mexico.
All proceeds from items auctioned by the Trust in collaboration with Escape Artists will help raising funds for projects in the mental health sector. GianLuca is glad to have given his small contribution to a cause that he feels very important.
However this guitar is not going to stay stock. As the Standard Tele comes with the body already routed for a neck double coil pickup, a DiMarzio Alnico humbucker is moving in, mated with a new Hot T bridge pickup as well.

SAE Amsterdam

Between 2007 and 2008, preliminary recording sessions for debut album material take place in the very inspiring Amsterdam, where we moved in recently.
Early demo versions of "Calypso", "Lonely Night", "Spirit Dance", "Shades of Madness" see the light from these sessions in the SAE studios, and the "Ziet op u Zelven" houseboat studio.
We recorded on Pro Tools, through SSL 6000 and TL Audio VTC consoles, using analog gear and vintage Fender Strat and Tele in all flavours.
